YOGA for Health

The word Yoga comes from Sanskrit word “YUJ” it means to connect or create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness. Yoga can help you to connect your soul with divine. Yoga is a sadhana. Yoga originated in ancient India. First codified by the sage Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras.

The ashtanga Yoga also mentioned in Yoga Sutra by Patanjali ashtanga Yoga has eight parts.

1.Yama

2.Niyama

3.Asana

4.Pranayama

5.Pratyahara

6.Dharana

7.Dhyana

8.Samadhi

Yama means universal moral commandments,Niyama means self purification by discipline.

The third one Asana is called Yogasanas, Postures which can be done in several positions such as standing, sitting, and sleeping.

Pranayama is rhythmic control of the breath, Pratyahara is withdrawal and emancipation of the mind from the domination of the senses and exterior objects.

Dharana is concentration, Dhyana means meditation and Samadhi means a state of super consciousness brought about by profound meditation,in which the Sadhaka becomes one with paramatma the Universal Spirit.

Our mind is the king of the senses.One who conquered his mind senses,passions, thoughts and reason is a king among men. He is a Raj Yogi. The word Raja means a king, The expression raja yoga implies A complete mastery of the self. Raja Yoga is called ashtanga Yoga which has eight stages (Limbs)of Yoga.
